A number of tools in the original HealthLandscape are still in development and not currently available on this site. However, to meet the need of our users, we are making the original healthLandscape site available at Legacy.HealthLandscape.org
The Legacy HealthLandscape will continue to be available until we've migrated all the original tools and functionality to this new site.
Patient distribution - A map of points representing patient households. The address for each patient is mapped. Multiple patients in the same household will appear as a single point. We offset these by up to ¼ mile to avoid identifying actual people, but still providing a Missing Text?
Often calculate by ranking geographical areas by most patients to least, and selecting those which contain 50-70% of them (we use 60%); best to use census tract or smaller geography. May be helpful in the first step of the Community Oriented Primary Care Process-defining community. Could link to Retrofitting and Archives of Families Medicine articles
Penetration Rate - The proportion of people who visit a clinical site from a neighborhood or other geography. Calculated by dividing the number of patients from a particular geography (preferably census tract or smaller) by the number of people living in that same geography. A clinic with a penetration rate of 25% in a given neighborhood has cared for 1 in 4 people in that neighborhood. Areas with small populations may not make the cutoff for a clinic service area but still be highly penetrated by, and therefore highly dependent on, a clinic. It is another helpful measure for the first step in the Community Oriented Primary Care Process-defining community.] Could link to Retrofitting and Archives of Families Medicine articles
